Malaysian Writers’ Family Day

Introduction

Kavyan Writers Group (Kavyan) with the support of the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre (NSCBICC) has organised a gathering and discussion on 1 November 2015 involving Malaysian Indian writers who write in Bahasa Malaysia, English, and Tamil. Three more gathering, discussion, and reading events were organised on 20 December 2015, 11 June 2017, and 21 April 2018 involving Malaysian writers (Malay, Indian, Chinese etc). Malaysian Writers Get Together (14 May 2023) brought back the writers after the Covid-19 pandemic. The participants strongly want to have a follow-up gathering which also involves family and friends (non writers).

Family Day

Kavyan and NSCBICC has agreed to organise a family day for the Malaysian writers — Malays, Indians, Chinese, etc — who write in Bahasa Malaysia, English, Tamil, etc. This event also involves family and friends of the writers. It is not often that these various groups of writers (and their family and friends) get a chance to meet, mingle, discuss, and create a long-lasting bond. Children under 10? Yes, they are allowed as long as they can behave themselves. Children above 7 years need to register too. Babies? Yes; everyone loves babies!

Objective

1. To bring together Malaysian writers from various background who write in different languages

2. To celebrate the success of Malaysian writers who have published books in 2023

3. To bring together friends and family members of the writers as a family
